Monthly Rentals in Cleveland: What’s Included and What to Ask
By Theo
A month or more in Cleveland, Ohio, often comes with a specific reason: a medical rotation, a travel nursing contract, a long course of treatment, a research stint at University Circle, or the gap between selling one home and buying the next. For a stay that long, "furnished" has to mean more than a bed and a couch.
This guide covers what to look for in a furnished monthly rental, how the total price comes together, and what to ask before you commit to 30-plus nights. We run furnished homes in Little Italy, Ohio City, and Larchmere, and we'll use our homes as examples. You can use the checklist with any place you're considering.

What "furnished" should mean for a long stay
A real kitchen
For a longer stay, think about the meals you'll want to cook. Look for a full kitchen with a stove, oven, fridge, and enough cookware to make dinner. All of our homes include a kitchen. Some, like the Larchmere house, also list a dishwasher. Check each listing's amenities for the details.
Linens and towels
Ask whether bedding and towels are provided and whether they're changed during your stay. Will you get fresh linens, or should you plan to wash them yourself?
At our homes, bedding and towels are ready when you arrive. We don't provide scheduled mid-stay cleaning or linen changes. Some homes keep extra sheets and towels on hand, and every home has an in-unit washer and dryer. If you'd like a refresh during your stay, message us.
Wi-Fi and a workspace
If you're working remotely or studying, ask about Wi-Fi and whether there's a desk. Internet is included at our homes. Many also list a dedicated workspace, but not every home does, so check the amenity list before you book.
Laundry
Laundry is easy to overlook when booking, but it becomes part of the routine over a month. Every Cleveland Furnished Rentals home has an in-unit washer and dryer, so you can wash bedding and clothes without looking for a laundromat.
How the total price comes together
A monthly rental price has several parts. When you book with us, the full price shows before you pay:
- Nightly rate × the number of nights
- Cleaning fee
- Pet fee, if you're bringing a pet
- Taxes
- Any service fee
Nothing gets added at check-in. We don't publish a percentage discount for monthly stays. Use the price shown for your dates, and message us before you pay if anything looks off.
When comparing places, ask each one for the complete total: all nights, all fees, and all taxes. A low nightly rate can hide a large cleaning or service fee.
Are utilities included?
Ask whether electricity, heat, water, and internet are included or billed separately. In a Cleveland winter, heating is a real cost. At our homes, electricity, heat, water, and internet are all included in your monthly stay price. There's no separate utility bill.
Parking: what to check before booking
Parking makes a difference during a long stay in Cleveland, especially in winter. Ask whether parking is assigned, in a driveway, or on the street, and whether it's guaranteed.
At our homes:
- Ohio City: free on-site parking is listed for all five homes.
- Larchmere: free on-site parking.
- 4-bedroom near Cleveland Clinic: a long driveway with dedicated guest parking.
- Little Italy: Driveway parking is first come, first served. Message us to inquire about it; it is not guaranteed. Street parking is also nearby.
If you'll have a car for a month, Ohio City or Larchmere is the simpler choice. If you won't, Little Italy is a short walk from Case Western, University Hospitals, and the Red Line.
Pets on a long stay
Pets are welcome at our homes, and any pet fee shows before you pay. Fees and limits vary by home, so check the listing for the one you're considering.
If you're bringing a dog for a month, the Larchmere house with a fenced yard gives it the most room. See all pet-friendly furnished rentals in Cleveland.
Extensions and early departures
Rotations get extended. Treatment plans change. Contracts get renewed. Before you commit to a stay, ask:
- Can I extend? At our homes, yes, if the dates are free. Tell us as early as you can and we'll lock it in, or help you move to another of our homes nearby.
- What if I need to leave early? Cancellation terms depend on the home and the dates you pick. The exact terms show before you confirm, so read them before you book.
